This February we’ve welcomed some awesome new clients and inspiring impact organisations, and had some incredible volunteer matches. If you’re looking for inspirational content on giving back to good causes - keep reading!
New Matchable Partners!
We’ve had a great month in February being introduced to a real range of organisations looking to offer their employees the opportunity to volunteer through work - it really goes to show that any organisation, and really any individual can find the best project for them on the Matchable Platform!
Indeed Flex - Supporting individuals seeking jobs the ultimate flexibility and control over their work-life balance through exciting career opportunities. They are joining forces with Matchable to offer their own employees more flexibility over their work, by being able to volunteer when works best for them.
Bonomini - A unique, 4.5 star rated hairdressers based in Bristol, with employees as young as 16 looking to give back to causes that are personally meaningful to them!
Moixa - The UK’s leading smart battery company, with a leadership team focused on making their employee wellbeing a priority.
New Matches!
Matchable is always proud of the fantastic work completed by our volunteers, and these last few months are no exception! Our volunteers have been busy bees as they support our amazing community of impact organisations, tackling a wide range of important issues such as the climate crisis, domestic abuse and inclusivity in the workplace.
To find out about the strides being made in these areas by our Matchable community, why not check out Ruby Moon, Believe Globally, or Stress Matters, to explore how you could get involved?!
In other Matching news, one of our lovely volunteers recently Matched with Talking Mental Health, an online hub designed to normalise mental health discussions and provide mental health support. For their project, this volunteer kindly offered to help generate some content for the Talking Mental Health blog, and went on to produce an insightful and engaging article that explored portrayals of mental health in popular culture and art. Check out the article here!
On their Matchable experience, the volunteer said: “Talking Mental Health is a great place to discuss often stigmatised issues. I loved the ability of combining my area of expertise/qualification with my own personal thoughts on mental health. I believe media has the biggest power in the world right now when it comes to changing people's minds and that films should pioneer good representation of mental health, to better integrate people with mental illnesses in society. I am glad I had the platform to share my thoughts, as well as how media has affected my own life and self-image, as a woman and as a survivor of trauma.”
New impact organisations!
This month, we’ve welcomed lots of new Impact Organisations into our network. We’ve handpicked a few to showcase how diverse, inspiring and impactful these incredible organisations really are.
Valiant Lingerie was born out of founder Eleanor's own experience of undergoing a double mastectomy at 24. After her diagnosis and surgery, she tried to regain a sense of ‘normality’ and confidence in her body, but found that the only underwear functional enough for her to wear was frumpy and clinical - this had a devastating impact on her confidence, body image and mental health.
So, she created Valiant Lingerie - a brand supporting people through these life changing diagnoses and surgeries by creating underwear that is both functional and attractive. Her vision is for Valiant Lingerie to become a community for those who have experienced, or are experiencing, breast related illnesses and surgeries, and we’re so excited to support her on her mission.
Cambond is a UK biotech company that uses food waste to develop a plant-based bio-adhesive. This can be used to manufacture low carbon construction and homeware materials, therefore creating a better and cleaner environment.
Founder Proffessor Xiaobin Zhao wanted to reduce the almost 1/3 of food that’s wasted, and we’re over the moon that they’re now part of the Matchable network!
Dad La Soul uses arts, music and technology to help battle social isolation and loneliness in Dads across the UK. Founder, Dan, himself struggled with fatherhood, and saw the devastating impact that it had on his own father’s mental health - who was a single parent to 4 children in the 70/80s.
Dad La Soul encourages Dads to talk openly about their struggles. They’ve successfully built a magazine, radio show, produced 110 events, and created a thriving online community where Dads can safely open up and build friendships.
