🚀 YOUR GUIDE TO WRITING UP A MATCHABLE PROJECT

GET STARTED WITH THESE TIPS TO HELP MAKE YOUR PROJECT STAND OUT AND ATTRACT OUR SKILLED VOLUNTEERS!

  1. BE FLEXIBLE

It’s helpful for us to know what you are expecting from a match, whether it’s the kind of volunteer(s), the skillset or time commitment. We tend to find that projects where flexibility is emphasised generally attract the most volunteers. This could be highlighting that although you are looking for a super experienced marketing expert to help you reach as many users as possible, you’d also be happy to chat with someone a little more junior who still knows their stuff or to a team of marketing experts. Or maybe you’d ideally like to work with someone for an hour once a week but can be flexible and consider those with less time on their hands? Whatever you’re looking for, being as open as possible can help you get matched faster.

  2. BE CONCISE

No one likes to read big chunks of text so please don’t copy and paste a chunky paragraph straight into the project submission form! Projects that are presented clearly and concisely are more attractive to our busy volunteers. We know you have lots you’d like to share about the project but bear in mind that you can go into all the details when you chat to your volunteer over zoom. That being said, we do need enough information in the project form that allows our volunteers to get a good idea of what your project involves!

  3. CONSIDER SUBMITTING A GENERAL SKILLS PROJECT

Whilst we can match niche projects in need of a specific skill, we find that the projects that attract the most volunteers and are matched the fastest are those which are more general and require soft, transferable skills. For example, in 2020, our most popular projects were those looking for strategic advice (across a number of areas such as sales, marketing business and financial), mentoring & coaching, research and user testing. General skills projects can also lead to more specific, skilled project advice when the volunteer has a better understanding and is bought into your cause!

  4. BE INFORMAL

Our projects aren’t super formal so we’d recommend bringing some personality to yours! We like to know a little about our founders too but keep it casual and don’t feel you need to write up a job advertisement. Consider writing in the third person too as this is the way all Matchable projects are written.

  5. ADD FUN IMAGES

You are able to attach any relevant images/photos alongside your project submission. All of our projects include an image and the more engaging this is the more likely our volunteers are to click on your project! We suggest any bright, fun and catchy images. We do not recommend attaching logos as they tend to look less exciting!
