Matchable Monthly Highlights - Employee Volunteering

Last month at Matchable, we added 62 impactful projects to the platform, onboarded 18 incredible organisations, and helped 140 volunteers to find their perfect match.

Below, we have rounded up some of the Matchable Team’s recent highlights, from projects that inspire and encourage, to organisations creating colossal change locally and further afield!

Hospice UK - Transforming the way society cares for people who are dying

Gemma Green - Head of Customer Success

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and palliative care. They work to ensure that everyone affected by death, bereavement and the issues surrounding it receive care and empathy when they need it most, and provide training programmes to companies across the UK to ensure that employers are equipped with the necessary skills to support employees struggling with grief.

“What they are doing is very close to my heart and it’s great they’re focusing on ensuring employers are supporting their employees through these difficult times.”

Change Ahead - Working to alleviate poverty and homelessness globally

Lindsay Warner - Customer Success Executive

Change Ahead provide anybody with internet access the opportunity to find support services (e.g. housing, employment, wellbeing and everyday essentials), empowering vulnerable people in the process.

“Growing up, my mum was a Housing Officer, which meant that I had an awareness of the struggles that some people have with accessing basic human rights like housing. This is just one of the reasons why Change Ahead’s mission resonates with me.”

Ila - Tackling domestic violence with technology

Tash Rebuck - Business Development Manager

Ila uses the power of technology and training to build a more informed society. They combat domestic abuse via their training programmes, educating retail staff on appropriately redirecting victims to services to gain access to help and support.

After volunteering with Ila on a short-term project she matched to on the Matchable platform, Tash was inspired by the Ila teams vision, and now takes part in volunteering on a more long-term scale.

The Access Project - Helping disadvantaged young people access top universities

Sareeka Linton - Head of Operations

The Access Project offers tuition and in-school mentoring to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as statistics show that they are 6 times less likely to attend a top university - a figure The Access Project is determined to change.

“This is a cause very close to my heart. I attended a state school in a deprived area and managed to get into a top university and it became very obvious when I was there that there weren't many people from a similar background to me.”

Acton Homeless Concern - Supporting homeless people with no judgement

Acton Homeless Concern provides vulnerable and homeless members of the community with food, facilities and support. They have clothes, resources, and even a barber who comes in every so often.

“In November, myself and Lindsay visited Acton Homeless Concern. The amazing team of people who work there help support over 200 people every single day who come through the doors - a staggering number, especially considering the size of the building itself.”

Lauren McLoughlin - Impact Partnerships Executive

Support Ukraine - Delivering aid to the Ukrainian people

Alex Southworth - Sales Development Represenative

Support Ukraine coordinates aid supply lists and prioritises items across a collective of volunteer groups, ensuring that pressing needs are met in a timely manner via their efforts.

Alex volunteered with Support Ukraine alongside some other members of the Matchable team. He really enjoyed spending time supporting an organisation who are doing so much to help the international community .
