Gratitude + Tomera

WE MATCHED GRATITUDE, A CHARITY GIVING VULNERABLE PEOPLE ACROSS THE UK ACCESS TO FOOD WHILST REDUCING FOOD WASTE, WITH CAZOO CONTENT MARKETING MANAGER, TOMERA, TO DEVELOP THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING strategy.


Gratitude is a charity simultaneously giving vulnerable people across the UK access to food and reducing food waste.

They take food that can’t be sold - due to packaging errors or overproduction - but is still safe to eat and redistribute it to members of the community through free meal projects, their community pantry and via their network of local charities. In the last 18 months, their food bank has redistributed over £1.5million worth of food, clothes, sanitary items and more to those in need.

Gratitude undertake their work in order to promote social cohesion, social and environmental responsibility, community strength and, of course, an end to hunger and associated inequalities.

They were looking for a volunteer to help them with social media marketing, in order to expand awareness of their work and increase their ability to support vulnerable members of the community. Founders John and Sheila Carlisle had limited skills and experience in this area, and were keen to work with a volunteer who had a strong grasp of how to use social media as a marketing tool.

We matched them with Tomera, a Content Marketing Manager from Cazoo, who not only had a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area, but was passionate about Gratitude’s mission and striving for positive change.

Within days of signing up, I was accepted and started working with Gratitude that same week. I found the experience incredibly rewarding personally; using my skills for good, improving my professional capabilities whilst also supporting an incredible cause and helping to feed vulnerable communities.

We completed a full immersion into Gratitude’s ethos, priorities, projects and current marketing and communications approach.
