Innocent’s Group Volunteering Day

The Innocent team volunteering through Matchable

The Innocent In-House creative team volunteering together for Blossom LGBTQ+

We helped innocent’s in-house creative team create £120k worth of impact value for Blossom, a charity that empowers young LGBTQIA+ people to be authentic and successful, without fear of discrimination.

Innocent's Quote

Blossom was founded in 2019, in the living room of volunteers who wanted to change the way young LGBTQ+ people connected. By 2021 they’d made a name for themselves as a progressive, community-led organisation, and since then they’ve been working to transform their passions into careers and make their vital services permanently available.

They needed a hand launching a new initiative to help LGBTQ+ young adults find and maintain meaningful work. They wanted to create excitement and drive engagement on their social media platforms, with the hope of attracting people to the scheme -particularly mentors, mentees and potential sponsors.

The team at Innocent picked this brief because it lent itself to their skills, and they were keen to lend them to a cause they really care about. James is a designer, Tilly’s a copywriter and Mayya is a creative producer, and Tilly and James are both members of innocent’s LGBTQ+ affinity group. Innocent is a B Corp committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace, and everyone who works there gets one paid volunteering day a year – so the team had some experience doing stuff like this.

Since Blossom’s team is still small, with just one marketing person, the best way the volunteers could spend the time was to plan a social media strategy for the launch of the initiative. They also put together a suggested ongoing social media strategy, to be sure the support offered continued to be useful beyond the launch.

Following the session, Blossom’s founder Oscar said:

Blossom’s founder also elaborated on their plans, saying that their marketing person “left with a number of his opinions & plans affirmed but also buzzing with new and exciting ideas. We plan to spend some time building their suggestions into our new marketing strategy and then continuing to build upon them”

And Blossom are confident the session will deliver meaningful impact for the charity and their work supporting the LGBTQ+ communities:

Quote from the charity on the impact of Innocent's employee volunteering day

Not only was the Innocent team able to help Blossom to keep providing their services to the people who need them most, but through our skills-based volunteer day, they were able to use their specific creative expertise to support them in a much bigger way with launching new services to even more LGBTQ+ people in the long run.

We can’t wait to see what the wider Innocent team does next with their volunteering days!
