Merry Matchable Christmas!

We love finding hidden gems here at Matchable, some of which are our very own impact organisations! So if you’re thinking of gifting something a bit different this year that does good too - from virtual culinary experiences to knit kits and refillable toiletries, we’ve got you covered.

For keen cooks

Diaspo are unlocking the experience and knowledge of older adults, by running live cooking classes so you can learn traditional recipes from people with decades of experience. Learn the secret ingredients and stories behind all types of cuisines including Indian, Moroccan, Lebanese, Malaysian and Caribbean!

Sign up to a class for some intergenerational fun! It’s also a great option for a remote work Christmas party.

for families

With many of us being apart from family this year, check out Storyskimo’s platform Memory Box if you’ve got kids who are missing seeing family. Memory box allows you to record, share and listen to cherished moments - why not ask aunts, uncles or grandparents to record a story for them to listen to before bed?

for environmentalists

This is a great eco-conscious gift option, or one for the person in your life who always forgets to stock up on their toiletries! Circla aim to take the hassle out of conscious purchasing, and take single-use plastics out of the ocean, by creating gift boxes filled with refillable toiletries from carefully selected brands. Either buy just what you need, or sign up to their refill programme to make sure you get top-ups exactly when you need them. The ‘Thinking of you’ boxes are great to try a bit of everything!

For the home-worker

Booni is a social enterprise using food to do good. They create amazing Booni Boxes filled with premium food products delivered to your door. You can help provide for struggling families this Christmas by purchasing The WFH Box - for every 5 boxes sold Booni will deliver a healthy food box to a family on top of the vouchers families receive.

for the snacker

Social Supermarket connects shoppers with social enterprises that have a net positive impact, so your shopping can be a force for good! We’re tempted by these amazing Christmas hampers showcasing their full range of products and by these great bags from Elvis & Kresse (one of our other impact startups!) made from repurposed fire hoses!

For the crafter

Glow & See work with BAMER women in London and Nepal, paying them a fair price to create beautiful knitted goods to provide them with more financial empowerment and social connections. You can pick up a knit kit if you know someone who’s a keen crafter, or a cosy beanie or snood!

For the homebody

Petit Miracles helps vulnerable people change their material circumstances by providing high quality restoration and upholstery training to create beautiful, yet affordable, pieces for the home. Perfect for someone who loves finding those really unique pieces for their home!

For the Gen x’ers

On Mirthy the older adults in your life can watch online talks and take part in interactive Q&A sessions with professional public speakers, often retirees themselves.

The Startup School for Seniors is one for the over-55 entrepreneurs who are excited about turning their idea into a reality!

For everyone

Send a Cow provides support and practical training to farmers in six African countries, helping them to take control of their own land and of their own futures. You can purchase ‘gifts’ for these families, which will be sourced and provided locally. Everything from livestock like cows (of course!), chickens and goats, to equipment, food, and sanitation.

For the future women in tech

For Christmas InnovateHer have launched brand new letterbox gift packs, with all profits going back into supporting young people get tech education via their social enterprise. They are also donating 5% to Chayn, who support women experiencing domestic violence globally. These kits are great for girls dreaming of a career in tech!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Matchable Christmas list showcasing some of the incredible organisations we work with. If you’d like to find out more about them or about how you can not only buy your gift from but also volunteer with one of these organisations throughout the year, we’d love to hear from you. Merry Christmas!
