Softwire + Storyskimo

WE MATCHED THE ‘AUDIBLE FOR CHILDREN’ PLATFORM STORYSKIMO WITH DEVELOPERS SOFTWIRE TO WORK ON THEIR MVP.

Tech for good startup Storyskimo are the ‘Audible for Children’ offering beautiful curated audio experiences for children on themes including humour, suspense, values and behaviour, science, history, geography, justice, equality, sustainability and more.

With many children learning from home during the Covid-19 pandemic, Storyskimo have seen an increase in demand for their platform. They were looking for help from a web developer to improve the functionality of their site, making it accessible to more users, and in particular to help build a beta version of their Memory Box, where teachers, grandparents and relatives can record their own stories for their students and grandchildren to listen to!

We matched Storyskimo and their founder, Vero, with Softwire, one of the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to work for. Beginning with an initial discussion to scope the project and discuss the ideal user experience, they then helped build an enhanced MVP for Storyskimo to test.

A core value of Softwire is to give back to the community and many of the projects we deliver are dedicated to improving people’s lives.

We were really excited and pleased to be matched with Storyskimo and their founder, Vero. What they are building, personalised audio stories for children, is so relevant especially now while we are in lockdown and families are struggling to see each other, particularly elderly relatives. Bringing to life the Storyskimo functionality, which allows grandparents (and anyone in fact!) to record themselves reading stories for their grandchildren to listen to and access on demand, was an amazing way to feel like we were contributing in a small way to help those impacted by Covid.

Thank you so much to Matchable for finding us the right project at the right time!

As an early stage startup still bootstrapping, we were looking at further developing our proposition and were lucky enough to be chosen as a low/pro bono project by Softwire, after being introduced to them by Matchable.
We would have had to fundraise to develop this more evolved version of our MVP. This project allowed us to delay the fundraise and further prove our concept!
